So You Want to Go to Work? Innovative Employment Options for Clients who are Blind or Visually Impaired

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a number of aspects of vocational rehabilitation and employment for persons who are blind or visually impaired. One aspect, however, that remains constant are the emergence of new and innovative ways to enable clients of the VR system to obtain employment. This webinar provides an overview of four such aspects.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will learn how after 80 plus years the National Industries for the Blind (NIB) continues to grow the AbilityOne program and develop new programs to increase the employment of people who are blind.
  • Participants will describe the process of entrepreneurship funding support through Hadley.
  • Participants will better understand how and when to use a self-employment goal for a VR client.
  • Participants will understand the opportunities available to individuals seeking career enhancement under WIOA guidelines.
This webinar is presented on January 11, 2021 by Colleen Wunderlich, Kathy Gallagher, Nancy Parkin-Bashizi, and Ian Shadrick.
